PROJECT DESCRIPTION  

The Market Cross is set on a traffic island at a busy four-way road junction between High Street, Castle Place, Old Cross Street and Castle Street, Newtownards.

Work included;

• Spray treatment and removal of vegetation.
• Cleaning stonework with biocide application and light steam low pressure wash.
• Repairing/Replacement of delaminated stonework.
• Removing defective and inappropriate cement based pointing to stonework and repointing in lime-based mortar.
• Refurbishing/Repairing existing metal railings, weathervane and access gate.
• Removing existing gravel surfacing, altering levels as required and provision of new gravel surfacing.
• Provision of new access steps and gate.
